Headed Downtown

Saturday we checked into the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Austin. The hotel was awesome! I don't think we touched a door for 3 days. There was always someone to open a car door, or the hotel door, even our room door when we first arrived. And every time we came back to the room, someone had been in there to tidy up the place, put on classical music and leave treats like champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We had a decent sized room with an amazing King bed and a balcony that overlooked the lake. (Side note: I argued with Mark about this almost everyday. They call it a lake down there, and it is at one point, but through Austin, its basically just a river. Leave a comment if you want, but its a river). Regardless, it was a very nice view!

We had some lunch and then Mark took us out to the Driftwood Winery. We did some wine tasting and bought a bottle while we were there. The area was really pretty and would have been nice to sit outside but there was a very strong, cold wind all day, so we went inside by the fireplace to drink our wine.

As soon as we were done we met up with Patrick and Andrea at the Salt Lick. We had been excited to get everyone together at some point and what better time than over some famous BBQ ? We had seen Salt Lick on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives so we knew we had to try it while we were there. The food was very good, but I have to say the best thing I had was the sausage.

Afterwards, we dropped Mark off and headed back to our hotel room. Patrick and Andrea met us there and we hung out until Mark came by later. We spent some time watching goofy videos on YouTube. "Whose chair is that? Not my chair. Not my chair not my problem, thats what I say"

Drinking out of cups

We finally went out to a jazz bar called The Elephant Room. They had a Latin jazz band that was pretty cool. Had a couple percussionist, trumpet, upright bass, and a baritone saxophone. It was pretty cool. I tried a beer called Kwak. It looked like a science experiement. It came out in a tall beaker looking class and it sat in a wooden holder with a handle. They tried to charge Jordan $12 dollars for one when Mark got it for $7. We think its because she had an Oklahoma license. But we got it straightened out. It was a fun time. When we left we went to Magnolia Cafe again with Patrick and Andrea. It was definitely a full day, but Sunday would be a little more relaxing
